Bungalow @ Bukit Tunggal, Singapore

Perched atop Bukit Tungga Hill, this bungalow boasts a commanding vista of central Novena. The renovation project seeks to execute an "Extreme Makeover" of the existing 40-year-old house, while conserving more than 50% of the original structure. Leveraging the prevailing orthogonal layout, the design emphasizes spatial refinement to engender expansiveness, enabling the seamless integration of the garden into the living space. The north end of house with the best view was given special attention.

On the ground floor, the demolition of walls at this end facilitates the installation of fully openable sliding and pivoted doors, granting access to the newly established 5-meter wide veranda adjacent to the new swimming pool.

This endeavor extends the living area to the outdoors, allowing for the visibility of the pool from the kitchen situated at the opposite end of the residence. The idea of "Expansion through Reduction," encapsulates the design approach.
