Located within the 218-hectare grounds of the World Horti-Expo Garden in Kunming, China, Century Square is our third project within this international botanical landmark. It is situated at the end of the main boulevard of the expo grounds and covers a 26,900 sqm area with an unusual shape.
This presented a challenge in positioning a hotel/office block, a residential block, two office blocks, and a central art and recreation building on the site.
We addressed this by adopting a radial grid to align with the main axis and the entrance piazza of The Story of Kunming.
If the Horti-Expo Garden celebrates horticulture, then the architecture of Century Square reflects this vertically, with green spaces integrated into the building design.
