The design concept for this project was centered on reinterpreting and representing the existing site conditions in the new development. The site featured buildings dating back to the 1980s, characterized by a unique design style and high density, which served as the primary inspiration for the new development.
The client provided an opportunity to thoroughly explore design possibilities, considering the unusual shape of the site which presented a challenge in finding a suitable design solution.
To accommodate service roads and parking for residents, the entire site had to be artificially raised due to its irregular shape.
Furthermore, the design aimed to reimagine the landscape, with the exploration of raising the void decks as high as 15m to create communal spaces for the residents.
Fluid and Elevated Landscape Design
The design of the landscape is characterized by fluid, undulating lines that mirror the irregular shape of the site. These lines traverse the site and traverse the void decks beneath the building blocks, linking entrance lobbies, water features, and other recreational facilities.
Elevated from the existing ground levels, they form a continuous landscape deck. Varied heights of the void decks serve to delineate different landscape features and varying tree heights, promoting visual connectivity from the site to the natural hills in the distance.
