Dong Lin Hu Xin Tian City Phase 2 @ Zhengzhou, China

Xin Tian City spans a site area of 6.6 km ², establishing its status as one of the largest developments in Zhengzhou and the entire Hunan province of China.

Our undertaking necessitates the meticulous execution of a masterplan design for a specific parcel within phase 2 of this expansive development project.

The site's distinctive features include the presence of the Cave Dwelling, an iconic and historically significant architectural form in China, situated at the central and eastern perimeters of the site.

A notable topographical challenge arises from a substantial 15-meter land depression, creating cliffs within the site.

The masterplan intricately addresses the complex site topography. Prioritized planning of internal roads circumvents the cliffs, closely adhering to the natural topographical lines.

Furthermore , different zones are delineated within the site to accommodate different landscape themes, diverse housing types and densities, in alignment with the client's specifications and the minimum plot ratio of 1.07.

Drawing inspiration from traditional Chinese architecture, the architectural forms yield contemporary Chinese spaces characterized by distinctive forms and voids.

A novel architectural typology, featuring an 'L' shaped module, is introduced to effectively utilize the cliffs.

This module is rotated and terraced to form a vertical repetition, seamlessly linking the bottom to the top of the cliffs.

Noteworthy architectural attributes, such as roof eaves, partition walls, and the utilization of traditional Chinese 'green brick', collectively embody a modern Chinese aesthetic.
