Shanmenhai Geological Eco-Resort @ Guangxi, China

We envision designing an architecture that not only conforms to the natural hill but also resembles it, blending with the captivating Karst landscape that surrounds the site.

By thoroughly understanding the terrain, we created a 3-dimensional model of it to serve as the foundation for our design.

The primary structure follows the natural contours of the terrain, honoring and reflecting its organic form.

Situated adjacent to the northern public road, it also seeks to replicate the Karst natural landscape and geological marvels of Sanmenhai through terraced façades, hill-like forms,cave-like spaces, and skylights.

The terraced landscape decks aim to restore the natural shape of the site, which was altered by a previous development. Consequently, nearly all spaces within the design will offer views across the valley.

Our design is inspired by the natural landscape and seamlessly integrates with it.

The planter boxes on the facade are a critical architectural feature, and we utilized parametric design using ArchiCAD + Rhino + Grasshopper to explore numerous design variations.
