The Peak Eco-Resort Masterplan @ Xiamen, China

The Peak Eco-Scenic Zone, located within the nature reserve on the outskirts of Xiamen City, serves as a natural retreat for urban residents. Our client, with the backing of local village leaders, intends to develop 64 hectares of land into a world-class eco-resort. As such, we have been commissioned to execute a comprehensive masterplan for the entire area, including conceptual landscape design and architectural design for resort villas situated atop one of the hilltops.

The Peak Eco-Resort Masterplan @ Xiamen, China

The project commenced with extensive case studies of notable eco resorts in Hangzhou, which provided benchmarks and references for establishing the project’s direction.

The unique topography of the land intrigued us, becoming the organizing datum for our masterplan. By identifying peaks, valleys, and significant topographical features, we geometrically dissected the land. This analysis served as a guide for planning roads and zones within the development.

A detailed master plan and architectural design were executed for a demonstrative 6.4-hectare hill that flanks the central zone of the master plan. The resort villas were designed and arranged concentrically around the hill, intended to resemble the appearance of fireflies in the forest when viewed from a distance during the night.

This design is complemented by a food and beverage common facility at the hill's peak, incorporating a cascading waterscape to enhance the experience for the villa residents. For this architectural design, we were honored with the gold medal at the prestigious International Design Awards.

The landscape seamlessly integrates within the framework of the master plan, accentuating the natural environment, its inherent topography, and existing plantations. Our aim is to draw visitors closer to the plantations, enabling them to experience firsthand what it is to work in the plantation fields. Water bodies have been integrated to enhance the natural ambiance of the site.
