Xiaoshan Conceptual Masterplan @ Hangzhou, China

We were commissioned to develop a conceptual masterplan as a precursor to an economic viability study for Zhaicun Town, located in the Xiaoshan district, approximately 30 km south of the Hangzhou city center. The masterplan encompasses nearly 20 hectares and is positioned in a scenic area surrounding the Xiangtianling Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the Xiaoshan District, nestled among natural hills adorned with bamboo forests. This site is not only notable for its natural beauty but also for its significance in tourism, as it lies within the nature demonstration zone of Yunshi and the tourism demonstration zone of Zhejiang province.

The conceptual masterplan encapsulates a diverse range of land uses, including food and beverage, eco-tourism, hospitality, residential, cultural, entertainment, and sports. These elements are designed to transform the site into a destination for all, enhancing tourism in the surrounding area. Given the natural environment, any new interventions, such as roads, are meticulously planned to minimize disruptions to the characteristics of the landscape.
