Yi He Wan @ Hainan, China

Facing a major scenic river, this site is designed as a mixed use development. A commercial street is created fronting the river, allowing for the injection of riverfront activities such as cafes, bars and eateries.

As the site is level in nature, all the residential units within the development are created to face internal gardens and parks. The tower blocks are designed with sky gardens, rooftop swimming pool and rooftop gardens to allow residents to enjoy the river frontage.

The landscape design in this residential cum commercial development is modern, lush, and fun, aiming to maximize visual appeal through various measures. For example, grass paviers cover internal roads, and boundary walls are intentionally broken into vertical timber strips to showcase private gardens.

Different niches enhance the limited landscape space. The two entrances feature dramatic geometric lines extending to the shopping boulevard, transforming into vertical plantings, signage, guard houses, and various finish zones to emphasize and enlarge the entrances.
